Carnegie Art Museum.....Celebrating 25 Years! Year 2012 marks the 25th year of operation of the Carnegie Art Museum. A facility of the City of Oxnard, it is managed by the Carnegie Art Museum Cornerstones non-profit group which funding raises additional support for its programs. To celebrate the Museum’s evolution from modest beginnings into a host of national quality exhibits and education events, an Anniversary Family Day on September 29th and the Gems & Gesso: 25th Anniversary Gala on October 20th is planned. Frederick R. Weisman was a pioneering Los Angeles art collector whose rise as an important patron of the arts paralleled the emergence of the contemporary art scene in Southern California. Featured are works ranging from the 1960s to the present, including diverse movements such as California Pop Art, Hard-Edge Abstraction and Light and Space.
